Meet Rachel Madden, DMD, MD

Dr. Madden, Board Certified Oral Surgeon Bedford & Nashua

Dr. Rachel Madden grew up in Fargo, North Dakota. She attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where she graduated with Honors and earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. After graduation, she worked for three years as a senior chemist at General Electric Corporate Research and Development in New York. Her work focused on synthesizing iron oxide nanoparticles used as MRI contrast agents and improving the efficiency of fluorescent lighting.

Dr. Madden went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. During dental school, she participated in research at Boston Children’s Hospital, studying gene expression in osteoclasts.

Following dental school, Dr. Madden completed an internship and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her residency, she also earned her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She remained actively involved in research throughout her training, publishing multiple articles in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and presenting her work at national meetings.

Dr. Madden completed her residency as Chief Resident and enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dentoalveolar surgery, orthognathic surgery, and cleft lip and palate repair. She has a particular interest in hard tissue pathology, including cysts and tumors. Dr. Madden is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the New Hampshire Dental Society, the New Hampshire Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Greater Nashua Dental Society, and the Manchester Dental Society.

Outside of the office, Dr. Madden is passionate about soccer and has coached youth teams for the past six years. She enjoys skiing in the winter and is learning to fly fish during the summer months. Her family also operates a USDA-certified organic fruit farm—home to what she confidently believes are the best peaches you’ll ever taste. When the weather keeps her indoors, she loves solving puzzles – Sudoko, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and even the Rubik’s Cube.
